Title
Reduce damage by Egyptian broomrape (Orobanche aegyptica) in tomato plants with resistance induced by salicylic acid
Authors
Abstract
Broomrape is an important parasite of many of dicotyledonous plants which causes lots of loses on host plants through out the world and also Iran. Taking control of this parasite is so hard and researchers try to find effective approaches to decrease its loses. One of these proposed approaches is use of compounds such as salicylic acid that activates plant’s defense systems. In this study in order to investigate the effect of salicylic acid using and induced resistance in tomato plants against broomrape, an experiment was done involving making use of salicylic acid as sprayed on the plant at five levels (0,0,5,1,1,5 and 2 mM) and 4
period of time of spraying, seedling transferring time, 7,14 and 21 days after seedling transferring time. After
emerge of the first signs, the broomrapes of the bushes were taken out and the number of Broomrape connections on roots, wet and dry weights and volumes of the Broomrapes, the relative of broomrape wet weight to root and wet weight relative of it to shoot weight were measured and the results were analyzed using Nonparametric crucial valise test and median. The results showed that use of salicylic acid compound at 1,5 mM concentration at seedling transferring time can decrease growing features of this parasite and there for probably diminishes loses due to Broomrape.
